Dear colleagues and students, It is my great pleasure, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, to warmly welcome you to the 13th International Seminar on Sport and Exercise Psychology (ISSEP), hosted by the Department of Sport Science at Seoul National University of Science and Technology in Seoul, Korea. We are honored to host this seminar, featuring participants from across Asia and beyond who are dedicated to advancing the field of sport and exercise psychology in both research and practice. Your presence reflects a shared commitment to promoting athletes’ performance, mental health, healthcare, and overall well-being through scientific inquiry and professional collaboration. The primary aim of this seminar is to contribute to the academic development of sport and exercise psychology researchers and students in the Asian region. Over the coming sessions, we will share research findings, exchange ideas, and explore new theoretical and applied perspectives.
Equally important, this seminar is an opportunity to recognize, understand, and respect the rich cultural diversity of the Asian region. Our countries differ in language, history, social systems, and sporting environments, yet we share many common challenges and aspirations. Through our discussions, we hope to explore how cultural contexts shape athletes’ experiences, coaching practices, physical activity promotion, and mental health support.
Ultimately, we hope that this seminar will serve as a platform for an academic and cultural community that contributes to enhancing the international visibility and standing of Asian scholarship in sport and exercise psychology. By presenting high-quality research, engaging in constructive debate, and strengthening our regional collaboration, we wish to ensure that Asian perspectives and evidence are more fully represented in the global discourse. I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to all presenters, participants, and students for contributing your time, expertise, and enthusiasm. I am also deeply grateful to our colleagues, staff, and volunteers at the Department of Sport Science, the HELP teams, and SEPC, whose hard work has made this event possible. I hope that this 13th ISSEP will be an inspiring and meaningful experience for each of you that offers not only new knowledge and research opportunities, but also lasting friendships and partnerships across countries and cultures. Thank you once again for joining us. Chair, Organizing Committee of the 13th ISSEP Youngho Kim, PhD, Professor Department of Sport Science Seoul National University of Science and Technology |
